2018 Symposium for Trustees & Library Managers:
The Public Library Services Branch (PLSB) in partnership with the Alberta Library Trustees’ Association is hosting its fourth annual symposium. The topic for 2018 is Public Libraries: We’re Only Human. We are very excited to present this free event as learning and networking opportunity for trustees and library managers. It comes as a direct response to the numerous requests we’ve heard from the library community across the province.
The symposium will be held on Friday, February 23 and Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Radisson Hotel Edmonton South (4440 Gateway Blvd, Edmonton).

Advocacy – Collaborating to request new Library Funding
The President of LAA, Debra Cryderman and the President of ALTA, Laura Ross–Giroux, are collaborating to send a letter to Minister Andrew to request an increase in new library funding.
Unification Meeting Update
The Unification meetings continue. The next meeting is in November. It is probable ALTA will not be actively joining this group, as we are mandated by the Alberta Government and our focus is on Alberta. The prime goal of this new group is to ensure they have a voice with the Canadian Federation of Library Associations. (CFLA)
