Library Card Design Contest

The submissions for the library card design contest have started to arrive and we are very excited! Several people have asked about submitting designs digitally, as well as using digital art. It’s our pleasure to let you know these submissions are welcomed! If this is the preferred medium of your patrons, please encourage them to send their submission in a .jpeg format; although we will do our best to convert other formats, if necessary. These submissions can be sent to with the subject Library Card Design and the artists information. Thanks and keep the art coming!

2. Library News:

June 1st Town Hall Teleconference Update

Please find attached a letter from Minister Madu regarding the June 1st Town Hall teleconference with public libraries. The topic of the Town Hall discussion was re-opening to the public in Stage 2 and the Provincial Relaunch. You will also find an updated Public Library Services Branch “Public Library Relaunch FAQ” document, the checklist for resuming service that we previously sent out in May, and a list of questions that were not able to be asked during the June 1st call with answers provided.

You will also note that Minister Madu mentions in his letter that libraries will be receiving masks as part of the second phase of the “Masks for Albertans” program. Nearly 800,000 masks are being delivered/have been delivered to the 7 regional library systems this week for distribution to municipal libraries. More information about mask distribution will be sent out shortly; general questions about the “Masks for Albertans” program can be found here.
