1. Parkland Updates:
Parkland’s Process for Quarantine
Upon receiving materials Parkland is quarantining grey bins for 72 hours. Operations staff then use appropriate hand hygiene and gloves to sort the items. These bins are then packed and shipped to libraries. According to Dr. Hinshaw there are different levels of contamination and Parkland’s sorting process would be considered low risk. It is our recommendation that libraries use appropriate hand hygiene while handling all received items. Libraries can create their own quarantining process, should they feel it necessary.
PLC Meeting – June 15
Just a reminder that the PLC meeting on Monday, June 15 at 10 am will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. If you haven’t already set up Microsoft Teams please see this how-to blog post on the support site. If you need assistance setting up Microsoft Teams please contact email@example.com.
2. Library News
Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy, Stage 2 – Starting June 12
As some of you may be aware, Stage 2 for the resumption of Alberta’s economy was announced by the Government of Alberta today. Stage 2 will allow additional businesses and services to reopen and resume operations starting June 12 with 2 metre physical distancing requirements and other public health guidelines in place. Libraries are included in the list of organizations that can reopen with restrictions.
Business operators, libraries, and other organizations can determine if they are ready to open when they ensure provincial guidelines are met. Please see Workplace Guidance for Business Owners for details. For library specific guidelines, please see the Guidance for Libraries. Additionally, there is an updated version of Opening Soon: Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy. For specific details on the strategy’s changes, please refer to pages 9 and 10.

Ask the Expert: What “Phase 2” Means to Municipal & Community Services – June 12
The Alberta Urban Municipalities Association is hosting a webinar on Friday,June 12 from 11 am–12 pm. Speakers will include Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Colin Blair, and Jeff Reynolds, Pandemic Response Planning Team.
