Parkland Update – November 26, 2020

This update includes information on:

  1. Parkland Update
  2. PLSB Update
  3. Resources

1. Parkland Update:

New Public Health Measures

The new public health measures may impact library board decisions on levels of public service or library access. Please contact your Parkland consultant if your library is making any changes—such as curbside service only, restrictions on access to facilities or services, changes to public or staffed library hours, etc. We are here to support you based on your situation and needs as they evolve.

Library Holiday Hours and Closed Dates

If you have not already done so, please send in your library’s 2020/2021 holiday hours and closed dates so they can be added to library websites and Polaris. Please submit these dates using the Website Questions & Other Updates form. Thank you!

Masks for Albertans Program

Parkland has shipped out the last of the masks supplied by the government via the Masks for Albertans program, and we will no longer be able to fill any more requests for masks.

Bodo Public Library

We are sad to share with you all the news that the MD of Provost Library Board has decided to close the Bodo Library at the end of this year. Parkland staff are working with the manager as they transition from a public library to a community reading room. Bodo’s collection is no longer visible or requestable in the PAC or for interlibrary loan. It is never an easy decision to close a library service point.

2. PLSB Update:

New COVID-19 Public Health Measures

New COVID-19 measures were announced by the Premier on Tuesday. Effective immediately, public libraries can remain open with capacity limited to 25 per cent of the occupancy set under the Alberta Fire Code. Watch your email this Friday, November 27 when the PLSB will share more direction to support libraries in these new measures.

PLSB/NNELS Accessibility Webinar

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the PLSB/NNELS accessibility webinar scheduled for November 27 has been postponed. PLSB will update us when they have a new date and time.
