The Parkland office will be closed on Remembrance Day, November 11th. Libraries on the Wednesday van trips have already been contacted about the shift in their delivery.

Provincial Budget Input
The Government of Alberta is inviting input into the 2021 budget. You can share perspectives through either an online survey https://www.alberta.ca/budget-2021-consultation.aspx or through telephone town halls. You can “help set direction for the upcoming provincial budget.”
CELA Educator Access Program Webinar – November 12
CELA is hosting a free webinar about their Educator Access program on November 12th from 1-2 pm. This program allows public libraries to offer educators at the elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels in their community access to CELA services on behalf of students with print disabilities. This webinar is for both educators and public library staff. Use this link to register.
Restoring Balance in Alberta’s Workplaces Act
The Restoring Balance in Alberta’s Workplaces Act was introduced in July. The purpose of this act is to provide clearer and more transparent rules promoting fairness and productivity, including rest periods and temporary layoff notices. The employment standards rules are designed to reduce red tape. Many of the new rules took effect November 1.

Occupational Health and Safety Toolkit
IntegralOrg provides access to an Occupational Health and Safety Toolkit, funded by the Alberta Law Foundation, that addresses the legislation overhaul in 2018 as well as updates to the OHS Act that were implemented in late 2019 and early 2020.
