Message from ALTA President

July 27, 2021

Dear Members,

Following a review by the boards of the Alberta Library Trustee’s Association and Library Association of Alberta the decision has been made to dissolve the Alberta Library Conference Planning Committee as of July 27, 2021.  This includes the cancellation of the 2022 Alberta Library Conference.

ALC was a partnership between LAA and ALTA. After careful review, and consideration of feedback and many factors, including but not limited to fiscal restructuring, impacts of the pandemic, and changes in the library community it was ultimately decided cooperatively by both associations that ALC is no longer the best way for our organizations to serve the entire membership.

This decision was not made lightly and in the end it was felt that it was the best option to ensure we are fulfilling our duty of care to our associations.

Both associations would like to thank the ALC planning committees, past and present, for their work on the conference.

ALTA and LAA are currently working on various opportunities that will better be able to meet the needs and budgets of our wonderfully diverse members. We look forward to sharing new projects and opportunities for our member and the Alberta library community in near future.

Please direct any questions or concerns to president@librarytrustees.ab.ca.

Have a wonderful summer.

Jennifer Anheliger
