Libraries are represented on the ALTA Board according to their geographic location.
While the borders of the regional library systems are similar to the ALTA Area Map, membership in a regional library system is not a prerequisite for ALTA membership. Libraries are not required to be a member of a regional library system to be a member of ALTA.
